Quite happy with my stay. Didn’t utilize all the amenities as I was visiting family. Needed a place to sleep/shower. Was clean quiet and comfortable. Only thing I don’t understand is I was charged a 150.00 deposit which has not been credited back. Being that I barely used anything at the hotel, I’m unsure why I was charged this extra fee. Be sure to get clarification. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel. Close to everything near the water. Food shopping and harbor.

Thank you for being so accommodating. We booked our room very last minute after we missed our flight because our son wound up in the emergency room. It was a very stressful time. Coming in to the reception area at 2:30am and having a friendly man greet us was so welcoming and kind. Our room was comfortable and even after checkout we were allowed to relax at the pool until we left for our rescheduled flight. Thank you!

The room was nice but the front desk staff upon check in was horrible. She didn’t recognize my platinum elite, didn’t make me aware of breakfast (therefore I missed breakfast altogether), acted irritated that she had to deal with me/a patron. I was denied a late check out and when I mentioned I was a platinum elite member it didn’t matter. I’ll never stay here again.

During our week in Hawai'i we spent two days on the Big Island here. The staff was amazing and caring! I was the victim of an assault and robbery in Hilo and the staff went out of their way to ensure we still enjoyed our time. The room was great (King Bed suite) and we even had a little covered porch since our room had an exterior entrance. We are looking forward to returning again!

The first day at breakfast, the majority of the yogurt was 5 days past due. The kitchen staff were nowhere to be found, so I spoke to the front desk, which referred me back to the kitchen. The tongs and the metal cup the tongs were placed in were covered with old, crusty eggs and cheese that had been sitting for hours. The next day at breakfast, the guy cleaning the tables picked up a dead roach I had pointed out, with the towel he was cleaning the tables with, threw the roach away, and continued to clean the tables with the same towel and gloves.
Our room was dirty. There was a sticky mess about 6-7 inches I had to clean up. The same stuff on the floor when we checked in was there when we checked out. Our feet were BLACK from walking on the hotel floor. Just a dirty place.

My husband and I stayed for six nights at this centrally located property. We loved the convenience of its location and walking distance to a variety of shops, restaurants, and the water. The breakfast selection was ok, but we got fatigue from the repetition. We slept well except for our last night when we heard unrelenting screaming of a homeless man in a parking lot across the street. Had it been earlier in our stay, we may have complained. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again if we plan another trip to Kona.

I found it! It can be easy for a hotel to forgo the guest experience because of its location. Not this Holiday Inn. Truth be told a good pillow will always get me to come back to a hotel and this one has it and two blocks away a really good view of the sunset!
